This was the photo reference taken for this piece, laid out on a grid for easier replication.
Laying down of a mid-tone layer of grey charcoal in order to easily detect correct light values on the portrait upon rendering.
Also seen is the beginning of outlining of the portrait.
Outlining and shadow mapping are completed, now starts the rendering of the portriat.
A good portion of the initial rendering is completed. I feel as though I look like a 1950s actor in this photo.
Rendering of the shirt is mostly completed. I just need to tackle the face and the watch and it should be done.
The Portrait is almost completed, I just need to draw the watch internals and add final touches. The final piece can be seen at the top of this page.
